Hero Selection In Dota 2

Dota 2 Guide For Beginners

What determines a good choice when it comes to hero selection in Dota 2?

For starters, there are 3 things you must pay attention to:
-    Strength Heroes
-    Agility Heroes
-    Intel Heroes (Intelligence or magic based)

Intel heroes in Dota 2 are very good when it comes to an early game as they usually have useful spells they can use to blast their opponents with and are most likely range heroes with devastating range attacks. They are however, weaker when it comes to the late game because other heroes tend to surpass them when it comes to brute force (other heroes hit points or health bar goes up drastically rendering your spell useless at the end)
Agility heroes in Dota 2 are powerful damage dealers and they excel at dishing out heaps of damage within a short period of time. They are also great range heroes which tend to out farm and torture melee heroes in their lane having great control over their surroundings and have really high armor to deflect blows as well. Their weakness however is that they don’t absorb spells very well due to their lower hit points as armor is worthless against damage spells.

Last but not least are the Strength heroes – the tankers in Dota 2. Put on one heart of Tarrasque and watch as they dominate the battle field.
They can take a lot of punishment but and suffer greatly at the beginning due to the fact that they are mostly melee heroes and they will need a lot of healing items to keep them in the game.
So what are good hero choices for beginners? For starters, if an entire team chooses to go range and spells, it could be a great complement as a team because they can all blast away at their opponents early on, push the tower and go for an early win. They have to hit fast and hard though, because if they do not win by mid game, their opponents will start stacking up items and their spells will be useless.
A good mix of heroes in Dota 2 is also good but you must remember that certain teams have heroes that complement one another and some don’t. It requires a lot of in depth knowledge about the various heroes to understand how to get ahead of the competition as far as team play is concerned.
